Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation in a woman of childbearing age.
2% to 5% of women are affected by amenorrhea.
This is a symptom of which it is important to know the cause. The absence of a period is completely natural when, for example, the woman is pregnant, breastfeeding or nearing menopause.
But apart from these situations, it can be a sign of chronic stress or of a health problem such as anorexia or a thyroid gland disorder.
Lack of menstruation, including in women who are usually perfectly regulated, can also be caused by:
• the use of a hormonal contraceptive method.
• stressful or emotionally demanding situations (New job, overwork, bereavement, separation, moving)
• Certain medications
• An unbalanced diet (Anorexia, bulimia, brutal weight loss diet)
• Intensive practice of a sport (athletic training, fitness, etc.) or a period of excessive physical exertion.
• Malnutrition, a lack of body fat or conversely being overweight can also explain the absence of menstruation.
• Beginning of menopause
Whatever explanation you can think of, if you haven't had a period for a while, and you are sure that you are not pregnant, here are some traditional treatments to get everything back in order.
treatments 1:
Make a decoction of a handful of the leaves of Landolphia heudeloti in 2 liters of water for 10 minutes. Drink 1 coffee cup every night at bedtime until menstruation returns.
treatments 2:
Make a decoction of a handful of the roots of Tamarindus indica in 2 liters of water for 15 minutes. Drink 1 coffee cup every night at bedtime until menstruation returns.
