Umar was beaten by angry members of the community before he was interrogated and two-handed over to the police for more investigation and prosecution.

   A 70-year-old man, Mohammed Sani Umar (Tela), has raped a teen of eight-year-old girl in Chanchaga area of Minna, Niger State. Umar raped the girl doubly before giving her N80 to silent her not to tell anybody concerning the incident.
    The mother of the girl noticed  her abnormal behaviour, that created her question the girl before she disclosed that the old person defiled her.
    She was sick for a few weeks and when every treatment, she was still not okay. Then, a neighbour suggested her mother to stay an in depth watch on the girl, that the mother started doing.
    After some days, she saw some stains in her underclothes and asked her what happened to her. “The girl took the mother to his place and on reaching there, she simply pointed at him.
    On watching and also the girl, he started begging them to hide it up thus he would take responsibility,” Abubakar, the girl's uncle, narrated.

    He aforesaid Umar was beaten by angry members of the community before he was interrogated and handed over to the police for more investigation and prosecution.
    The girl's mother started crying and loud for aid. people came visiting, dragged him to the family house, where he was beaten by the community and confessed that he had sex along with her doubly.
    He aforesaid that he gave her N50 once and another N30 the second time. “We took him to the police custody and handed  him to the police to charge him to court,” Abubakar said.
    The family appealed to the police to handle the matter professionally as they expressed worry that the police may sweep the case underneath the carpet as Umar is authoritative in the society.
    The Divisional policeman aforesaid the case would be forwarded to the state command on Mon. “We wish the police to try to to the right issue as a result of the person is extremely influential  and has some people that sometimes bail criminals arrested by the police.  
    He knows the wealthy people within the community and there's a possibility that, they'd conspire with the police to free the man and sweep the matter underneath the carpet.    The police ought to guarantee justice is served right during this case,” the family urged.
