Juventus told to ‘free Ronaldo at the end of this season’ as former president says signing was mistake

Former Bianconeri president Giovanni Gigli said:  Juve should be looking to "free five-time Ballon d'Or winner [Cristiano Ronaldo] go at the end of this season".

He added: "signing the 36-year-old from Santiago Bernabeu was [a biggest] an “expensive” mistake.

Juventus put a stunning deal with Real Madrid in place during the transfer window of 2018, with the Portuguese lured away from a record-breaking stint at Real Madrid.

Unusual standards in front of goal have been maintained by an all-time great in Italy,

but a forward that is now 36-year-old age has been inability to deliver the Holy Grail of Champions League glory to Turin and questions keep ringing of whether Cristiano Ronaldo was ever the right decision.

Giovanni Gigli told Radio Punto Nuovo when asked if Cristiano Ronaldo was the wrong decision for Juventus: “Obviously, yes! I said that on his very first day at the Club.

Ronaldo is a powerful champion but he didn't worth that huge amount of money spending on him [Old age]. “Now it is up to Juve.

They have been paying Ronaldo €1m per goal. [Juventus president Andrea] Agnelli must be self-critical, but he does not have good collaborators.

He Said: “juventus should free Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of this season and likewise Paratici.

Maybe Agnelli had promoted paratici to remove him from his post afterwards. That could be the dramatic.”

Ronaldo record at Juventus

The 36-year-Old has had 121 appearances for Juventus, and recorded 92 goals across all Competitions for juve.

The Portugal international has 27 efforts to his name this campaign, but was unable to aid Pirlo’s side to kick out Porto in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Ronaldo has won 2 Serie A title with juve, but a man with five-time Ballon d'Or winner was signed to deliver long-awaited continental glory to the Club.

A 4-year contract was handed to the former Man United and Real Madrid star when Ronaldo arrived at Juventus.
