Pogba's shadow looms over miserable Man Utd midfield after another bore draw

Crystal Palace 0-0 Man United There was only one Man United player who came out off the pitch in a sad mood follow draw with Crystal Palace having improved their reputation, and he was sat at home over Two hundred miles away.

Man United midfield Paul Pogba's return from a thigh injury can't come soon enough for the Old Trafford, who yet again lacked any urgency, desire or drive from the man as they recorded a third successive draw without a goal.

Since Paul Pogba was substituted just before the break in a 3-3 draw match with Everton, Manchester United have won just a game of their last four subsequent premier league matches, while their ten games since moving to the top of the league table in January have recorded just 3 victories.

Tuchel and Klopp to face each other for the first time in English premier league

Back around the turn of the year, Paul Pogba was one of the Manchester United best player, with the midfield both scoring and laying on goals while taking some of the burden off Bruno Fernandes.

However, Man United don't have a Single player who can replicate Paul Pogba's skillset within their squad, and it as began to show.

Manchester City to win both Champions league and premier league this Season

At Selhurst Park, Solskjaer went with Fred and Matic as his midfield duo behind Fernandes, but the tactics lack the confident that Paul Pogba provides.

Though they do bring a stability to Red Devil's spine, it must be asked why Ole felt the need to field two more players against a squad who have managed such 6 shots in their last two matches.

They indubitably did their job in shutting down Crystal Palace, with Henderson only called upon to make 1 relatively crucial save as he denied van Aanholt late on having been called upon to start as Man United Goalkeeper "David de Gea" pulled out due to personal reasons.

However, neither Fred nor Matic are known for their ball-carrying ability, and too often their first option would be to pass the ball sideways, or even backwards, as Man United struggled to play with any forms of tempo through the south London fog.

McTominay's introduction in the 73rd minute did helped somewhat, but the Man United Man is limited in terms of what he can offer in attacking areas because he has to assist the defenders at the back.

All that meant that Bruno was again relied upon to be the creator-in-chief, although the former Sporting C.P. player endured his second-straight under-par outing in the capital.

It's becoming something of a cliche that if the Man United Man fails to perform then so do Manchester United, but at least when Paul Pogba was among the Squad this season, there was someone who could pick up the slack in central areas.

Instead Manchester United were limited to Operate attacks through their full-backs; a route which did lead to United best chance of the night when Rashford fired wide after a strong run by the continually impressive Luke Shaw in attempt to secure them three points against Crystal palace.

The Red Devil's fans would've hoped that van de Beek would've provided more answers to their midfield conundrum this season, but the transfer window signing from Ajax was again absent, missing out on the squad after being deem not fit enough to travel with the squad as he recovers from his injury, despite having made the bench at Stamford bridge on Sunday.

Manchester United's 6th 0-0 of the season - the most by any English Premier League side in this season and the joint-most they've ever recorded in the competition in a single season which means they're now 14 points behind the leader Manchester City, and instead of aiming to close down Guardiola's side are beginning to look over their shoulders towards the Squad chasing places in the top 4.
